When in Oslo, do like the Norwegians and skate!

The Norwegians know how to make the most of their winter wonderland. Here, in downtown Oslo just outside The Grand, the iconic hotel once frequented by Ibsen and the like, the Spikersuppa ice skating rink is a taste of Scandinavian winter. A lovely snowy eve in downtown Oslo means puffs of steamy breath, the rhythmic swish of sharp blades on smooth ice, and a hot toddy or two (and maybe an aquavit night cap). Φ
