Late-spring cocktails on an unseasonably warm evening call for the flavours of Italy. So kick off the early-evening beverages with a boozy Negroni. It’s a refreshing mix of Campari (0.75 oz, sweet vermouth (0.75 oz) and gin (1.5 oz), garnished with the obligatory orange twist. Mix the ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Shake and strain into a glass.

Next up, ease off the gin and have the Negroni’s precursor, the Americano. It’s equal parts Campari and vermouth poured over a giant ice cube topped with soda. Thirsty-quenching!

Finally, the Massimo cocktail—a last beverage for the night as the sun goes to bed. Mix together 1 oz. Cynar (that’s an Italian bitter made with artichokes), 2 oz. bourbon and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Stir well over ice and strain into rocks glass and garnish with lemon. Φ
